Elementary School
In the Elementary School, students are encouraged to engage directly with peers, teachers, and classroom materials rather than electronic devices. Personal technology use is discouraged so students can develop communication skills, reflective thinking, creativity, collaboration, and confidence through active participation and exploration.
Students build these foundational skills through:
The Responsive Classroom approach, which emphasizes listening, empathy, respect, and collaboration
A wellness program that supports social-emotional learning from elementary through high school
Classroom discussions and thematic inquiry that encourage students to think critically and engage with meaningful questions
Elementary teachers use Blackbaud to share announcements and classroom information with parents and guardians.
Middle School
In Middle School, students begin using technology more regularly for research, communication, writing, and classroom projects. Waverly’s developmental approach ensures that technology supports learning while reinforcing responsible digital habits and strong interpersonal skills.
Students use class sets of Chromebooks to complete assignments, collaborate, and strengthen their ability to research, organize information, and interpret data. Personal electronic devices are generally discouraged unless specifically needed for educational purposes.
Teachers and administrators use Google Workspace and Blackbaud to share assignments, documents, announcements, and other classroom resources with students and families.
High School
In High School, technology becomes a more integrated part of the learning experience as students prepare for college and future academic work. Students use laptops, Chromebooks, and digital tools for research, writing, collaboration, and project-based learning.
The science program incorporates technology such as Vernier LabQuests and other measurement tools to support hands-on laboratory experiences and data collection.
Teachers communicate assignments, course materials, and updates through Blackbaud, helping students build organization, independence, and digital literacy skills needed for higher education and beyond.
