At Waverly, college counseling is a personalized journey that begins long before students submit their applications. We partner with students and families throughout high school to help each student discover colleges and universities where they will thrive academically, socially, and personally. Our goal is not simply college acceptance, but helping students find the right fit while developing the confidence, self-awareness, and skills to succeed well beyond graduation.

As a college preparatory school, Waverly offers a rigorous, University of California-approved curriculum designed to prepare students for higher education. We encourage students to challenge themselves academically while maintaining balanced, fulfilling lives. Whether pursuing the arts, athletics, service, leadership, or other passions, students are supported in exploring the experiences that help shape who they are. This holistic approach results in graduates who are prepared not only for college, but for meaningful lives as engaged learners and citizens.

Personalized Guidance Every Step of the Way

College counseling is woven throughout the High School experience. Students work closely with the Head of the High School and College Counselor to choose courses that are appropriately challenging, intellectually engaging, and aligned with their interests and goals.

Beginning in 10th grade, students take the PSAT and participate in programs that introduce the college search process. Families are invited to informational workshops that provide guidance on researching colleges, planning campus visits, understanding financial aid, and preparing for the application process.

During 11th grade, students meet regularly with the College Counselor to explore colleges, refine their college lists, prepare application materials, and develop a thoughtful admissions strategy. In 12th grade, individualized support continues as students complete applications, evaluate admission offers, and make their final college decisions.

Throughout the process, students benefit from the close relationships that define a Waverly education. By graduation, they leave with more than college acceptances—they have a clear sense of who they are, where they want to go, and the confidence to take the next step.
