Waverly Parent Organization Job Site Welcome back to school! We're looking forward to another great year at The Waverly School! Below you will find a list of WPO events. Click on the links to find out how you can fulfill your parent hours. There are several ways you can lend a hand as a member of the Waverly Parent Organization. Select the jobs you want and then e-mail Grete (hsreceptionist@thewaverlyschool.org) to sign up. Your name will appear on the WPO event pages to show which jobs are fulfilled and which still need volunteers. Only your name will appear on the page; your e-mail and phone number will be sent to the WPO event job coordinator. YEAR-ROUND Waverly Organic Farm: Be a part of the farm by helping to plan farm events for the Waverly community. Waverly Pizza Lunches: The WPO serves pizza to the Elementary School on Fridays and the Middle and High School on Wednesdays as a way to fund raise for school trips, give the students a favorite lunch and give parents a no-lunch-making day. Each school needs a pizza coordinator, pizza pick-up person, and volunteer servers. OCTOBER 2009 Halloween Party: Sunday, October 25, 2009. One-time event with most work occurring the weekend of the party. Tasks include: planning and organizing the event as a member of the committee, creating and setting up the haunted house, baking for and working at the Boo Bakery, creating and staffing a "booth" such as the Witches' Kitchen or the Fortune Teller, setting up and/or cleaning up. NOVEMBER 2009 Fall Book Fair: November 2-4, 2009. Three-day event with volunteer opportunities before, during, and after the event. Tasks include: planning and organizing the event as a member of the committee, setting up book displays and decorations, staffing during the event, organization of books, and clean-up. Faculty/Staff Appreciation Luncheon: November 20, 2009. One-time Fall event with most work occurring the day before and the day of the luncheon. Tasks include: planning and organizing as a member of the committee, cooking, serving, hosting, set-up, and clean-up. DECEMBER 2009 Waverly World Market: December 11, 2009. One of two major Waverly fundraisers requiring the efforts of many on tasks both large and small. Tasks include: planning and organizing as a member of the committee, working in a classroom to help students create items to be sold, soliciting donations of items to be sold, creating items to be sold, set-up, staffing on the day of the event, and clean-up. MARCH 2010 Silent Auction: Sunday, March 21, 2010. One of the two major Waverly fundraisers requiring the efforts of many on tasks both large and small. Tasks include: planning and organizing as a member of the committee, soliciting items to be sold, creating or donating items to be sold, creating or donating items to be sold, catering or working with the caterers, set-up, staffing on the day of the event, and clean-up. APRIL 2010 Jogathon/Carnival: Sunday, April 25, 2010. One-time Spring event that requires the work of many on the day of the event. Tasks include: planning and organizing as a member of the committee, set-up, selling tickets, staffing booths, cooking and serving food, and clean-up.
