Students might also discover Newton’s law of physics by building a “top-spinning robot.” With each project students will explore topics such as: the difference between remote control and autonomous action, engineering, physics, science, and math. Through a project titled “Explorer Bot,” students will focus on the exploration of other planets through using specific sensors attached to the robot which will help guide it through uncharted terrain. Also, students will learn how their robots will best move across specific terrain by attaching wheels, treads, or building legs. Students will learn how gears will increase or decrease speed through calculating gear ratios. Alternative energy possibilities will be discovered by attaching solar panels to projects; and we’ll experience the surprises of action-reaction with the “Hammer Bot.”
