The Waverly School's philosophy--that students learn best when they are actively involved in their own education and when they take responsibility for their growth--is based on the research and teachings of psychologist Jean Piaget and educator John Dewey. The Waverly environment presents students the opportunity to develop at their own intellectual pace, while being nurtured to become eager, curious, and responsible individuals. Founded in 1993, Waverly began as a preschool committed to the belief that all children deserve to grow, develop, and learn at their own pace. An elementary school and middle school soon followed. A few years later, Waverly grew to include a high school. Waverly is now the only progressive educational institution in the San Gabriel Valley serving students continuously from young kindergarten through twelfth grade.
